In this hands-on camp, students will have a blast exploring the science of food using everyday kitchen ingredients. This kid-safe class will build confidence in the kitchen and in the science lab as we use different measuring tools, knead dough, read recipes, and explore the science of food. We will develop a hypothesis, conduct experiments, and record our results using the Scientific Method. Activities include both edible and non-edible food experiments. Activities may include energy bites, homemade play-doh, fizzy reactions, safe chopping practice, taste tests, and much more in this exciting camp.
Camp activities designed by Ms. Brenna, one of our STEAM enrichment teachers who holds certifications in Plant-Based Nutrition and cooking from T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies eCornell. Brenna has been experimenting with food in the kitchen since she was in elementary school and has a passion for working with kids. This day camp is sure to be silly and fun.
Please include any allergies upon registering. We will do our best to accommodate for allergies and adjust recipes as needed.
"My twins had a blast at Kitchen Science Camp! They loved experimenting with baking soda and vinegar and learning the science behind things they see every day. Now, they’re always looking for ways to 'do science' at home. I highly recommend this camp!"
"As a parent, I was thrilled to see my 5-year-old come home from camp with a smile and a story about what he learned. The instructors made everything age-appropriate and exciting and he couldn’t stop talking about the fun activities"
